One of my highlights of 2016 was a piece I wasn’t actually involved in. The guys from @apartial approached me about a fascinating project in Liberia. Bucking the parachute trend of flying artists in and out, they asked a number of us including @faileart, @maserart and @glazedparadise to supply artwork that could be executed by a group of Liberian surfers in a country trying to recover from the devastation of the Ebola crisis. Normally I’m not really in to the idea of having other people make my work, especially when I have to give instructions (how do you direct other people when you’re never really sure what you’re doing yourself?). Obviously the context was too good to refuse and this project definitely wasn’t about the finished piece but the process and the very real engagement with a local community. The lads smashed it. Big up these guys, and massive thanks to Mark from @apartial for organising the whole project. #theliberiaproject
